Skye Bork, from the District of Columbia, was named the Distinguished Young Woman of America 2017 during the 60th National Finals in Mobile, Alabama on July 1st.
Skye is a Cum Laude graduate of National Cathedral School where she founded the High School International Forum and taught ballet to underprivileged youth. Her achievements include being a Presidential Scholar Semi-Finalist, an AP Scholar with Honors, a part of Youth America Grand Prix Boston and the recipient of the PSAT Letter of Commendation.
A cause she is very passionate about is Women in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics). She’s been described as a “Bulldog” about learning and leans on the premise that hard work and never giving up is her most meaningful lesson in life. Because of theses two very important things, she plans to focus on Applied Mathematics and Economics with a goal to be professionally involved in International Business and Government after college. Skye will move to New York in the fall to attend Columbia University.
